About Aurum Lodge
A unique eco-tourism accommodation, planned, built and operated with minimal environmental impact. Aurum Lodge is a destination for nature lovers, wishing to spend a few days in our mountains, unwind in a pristine setting, or engage in low-impact outdoor activities in a region known as Bighorn Country.
Access / Location
Situated in the Rocky Mountains of Alberta, close to Banff National Park, Aurum Lodge is easily accessible year-round by private motor vehicle on the David Thompson Highway (Hwy 11), which connects the Icefields Parkway in the National Parks with central Alberta. We are approximately half-way between the towns of Banff and Jasper.
Accommodation options
We offer two distinctly different accommodation types:
- Five guest rooms in the lodge – all with ensuite bathrooms – breakfast included, evening meals available by advance reservation.
- Three self-contained vacation rentals with kitchens, for guests who prefer to prepare their own meals and do not require access to the lodge or meals in the lodge. These units are dog friendly.
Attractions in the region
Our location in the front ranges allows you to explore the varied natural attractions such as waterfalls, lakes, rivers, forests and mountains of Bighorn Country.
In addition, there are historic and native sites which can be visited and we are within easy reach of Banff or Jasper National Parks and many of the highlights and hikes along the Icefields Parkway.
Activities for our guests
Come and stay with us to enjoy nature far from the crowds and engage in low-impact outdoor activities which include hiking, cycling, riding, canoeing, climbing in summer and winter hiking, ice-climbing or snow-shoeing in winter.  Or simply unwind with a good book or magazine and relax in the seclusion of our magnificent location, enjoying the views.
All season destination
There are 1001 reasons for this place of all seasons, so Aurum Lodge is open throughout the seasons. Depending on your personal interests and preferred activities, there are ideal times for wildlife observation, flora, fall colours, star gazing, winter magic and so forth. Hiking, photography, tours of the area and relaxation are possible year-round.
